Leading Orangutan Organizations Unite to Fight the Extinction of the Orangutan
4 June 2013 - Joint Media Release- Perth, Australia; Santa Monica, CA; London, UK - The battle to save the closest relative to man is reaching crisis point. The orangutan species faces extinction due to rapidly expanding palm oil plantations and habitat loss in Borneo and Sumatra, South East Asia. In a historic move The Orangutan Project, Orangutan Republik Foundation and Orangutan Land Trust have united in a partnership to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the effort to save the Critically Endangered orangutans, with each organization offering complementary skills to the partnership.
